When it comes to getting the destination right for our next holiday, it takes a lot of consideration. We might choose a beach holiday or a vacation on the pistes. Perhaps you’re looking for some pampering in a spa resort, or gastronomic delights in the city. Whatever you’re looking for, you will also have to consider the kind of accommodation you will use. Check out this guide for the pros and cons of some of the choices open to you for 2016:

Cruise Ship

Pros – Cruises are still becoming more popular for young singles. The offer an all-inclusive package of accommodation, all-you-can-eat cuisine and entertainment. They also provide easy access to many destinations on their route.

Cons – Despite being popular as all-inclusive holidays, you normally have to pay extra for alcohol. Duty-free prices on board can still be more expensive than at the ports you stop at. Close living quarters can sometimes give rise to stomach bugs spreading, so be vigilant about your hygiene.

Luxury Villas

ProsExclusive luxury homes offer you all your regular home comforts but better. Private and secluded accommodation is ideal for people who want to get away from it all. You can choose to make your own meals when you like or head out to local eateries. You could have access to a private pool and even tennis courts in places like France.

Cons – You may need a car to access the local village, town or city. This isn’t necessarily a budget option!

Camping

Pros – If you want to get around some of the most rural places on the planet, a tent provides shelter at all times. Some campsites are set up with lots of facilities. Others can be very remote and basic to provide the ultimate outback experience. This is the perfect budget choice.

Cons – Bad weather can leave you feeling pretty miserable and damp. Carrying a tent can be hard work on foot. Security can be lacking in some situations.

Hotel

Pros – You’ll have a lovely clean room every single day, and staff on hand to help you out. There may be a good restaurant within the hotel, so you might not even need to leave it!

Cons – Not all the facilities you might have hoped for will be included. Prices vary wildly, even from night to night. You often have to pay for everything separately. There can be a lot of noise in a busy city center hotel.

Bed & Breakfast

Pros – These are overwhelmingly popular in places like the UK. This means you can find accommodation almost anywhere across the country. This is a relatively cheap accommodation in very homely surroundings. You’ll get lots of local knowledge from the owners.

Cons – Not all bed and breakfast accommodation are of the highest quality. Food can be hit and miss too, although a good English breakfast is worth sampling. You’ll not get a lunch or evening meal.

There are plenty of choices when it comes to accommodation. The type you choose may depend on your preferences for that particular vacation. If you’re looking for something luxurious, you’re more likely to choose a villa than a bed and breakfast. Have a great holiday in 2016.
